Where are you?

Who are you, for that matter.

Given that this blog is mainly for me to remember things that I found interesting, it is always a pleasant shock to find that other people read it as well. Thanks to the miracle of Google Analytics, I see that I actually do get readers beyond my immediately family. Whoever you are, welcome, and thanks for stopping by.

The geography has been great: New York, Minneapolis, lots from Church in Lancashire, quite a few from London and the home counties, plus a mysterious figure from Germany.

I don't usually allow comments, because I don't want the spam and I don't expect people to actually read it. But for this post, comments are on, if anyone wants to say anything.

National Tremor Foundation

I have had a hand tremor of the type described here since before started school. It runs in the family and it has caused spills, social disaster, trauma at school and a tendency to avoid certain situations. It also scuppered my dreams of being a watchmaker, brain surgeon or forger.

And now I know I'm not alone, although I'm not convinced about the need for tremor merchandise.

Backstory: The mismatched 'Mythbusters' | csmonitor.com

I love Mythbusters - it is fun, good TV. One of my memories of when Elizabeth was tiny was watching about six hours of Mythbusters, because we could do all the Elizabeth stuff while it was on: feed, sleep, change, cuddle. Yet we didn't feel we were vegging out because we actually did learn something from each show.

The green machine - August 7, 2006

This is one of the turning points. "If each customer who visited Wal-Mart in a week bought one long-lasting compact fluorescent (CF) light bulb, the company estimates, that would reduce electric bills by $3 billion, conserve 50 billion tons of coal, and keep one billion incandescent light bulbs out of landfills over the life of the bulb."
