The ceiling comes down

At about 7:30, just as I was serving dinner, there was a rumbling sound, as if our upstairs neighbours were moving furniture. Angela went to check on Elizabeth as she had seen the baby monitor lights go, and found that a large chunk of ceiling had fallen onto our bed. I give endless thanks to God that Elizabeth was untouched - in fact she never even woke up, even when we moved her into the front room while we shifted her cot out. And that was our Thursday evening.

And another thing: in the photo you can see, just below the overturned lampshade, a watch strap. I bought that watch about 10 years ago because I needed a cheap watch quickly. Since then it has repeatedly been into swimming pools, and even a completed trip though a 40 degree C wash cycle in the back pocket of some jeans. And now it has survived a direct hit from a large chuck of plaster. Well done, watch, and well done the good people of Casio.
