·Funny (but WARNING: Willies): http://www.pureesoiree.be/post.do?id=3869
·Actually, I was surprised to discover that YouTube isn't just a
repository of Sesame St clips: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pFTjeaDlxDI
·You're not discussing Internet videos if you haven't mentioned Homestar
Runner, and you're not discussing music if you haven't mentioned They
Might Be Giants: http://homestarrunner.com/expfilm.html
·And finally, there was an amusing cover version of Total Eclipse of the
Heart, involving the destruction of kitchen appliances, and it set me
off researching other cover versions of Total Eclipse of the Heart. And
I discovered that none of them had quite as funny a video as the
unexpected literalism of Bonnie's original:

Back in the day...

Cold War's secret mountain is undermined by modern menace -

The first thing I saw on my first day at Fountain Valley was Cheyenne Mountain, a few miles from the school. With all the other military bases in the area, it was popularly reckonded to be the most heavily-targetted spot in the U.S., and we had a big picture window looking at it. It as a paranoid time, and there was a lot of gallows humour about living so close. Paul Romberg and I had a pact that, once the Russian missiles were known to be coming, we'd hike to the top and sunbathe under the blast. Kids, eh?
