Hard to argue with the top choice - It demonstrates that the best covers reach down into the original and find something that no-one found before. On that basis, not all of the rest of these 50 qualify as great covers, rather than just very fun ones. My fave cover apart from those listed here (and excluding others that are very similar)? For nostalgia and a good laugh, the Goodies doing Wild Thing; for singalong fun, REM doing Love Is All Around unplugged. Oddly, in both cases the original was by the Troggs.
